Notice is hereby given that the General Election for the City of Rock Creek will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Candidates for the offices listed below may file Affidavits of Candidacy in the City Clerk's Office, 7000 State Highway 70, beginning Tuesday, July 14, 2026, and continuing through Tuesday, July 28, 2026. On the final day of filing, the Clerk's Office will be open until 5:00 p.m. Complete documents and filing fees must be physically received by 5:00 p.m. on July 28, 2026.

The filing fee for each office of candidacy is $2.00.

Mayor: Two-year term

City Council (two seats): Each a four-year term

Rock Creek Fire Substation Officially Complete and Operational

The City of Rock Creek is pleased to announce that the Rock Creek Fire Substation is now 100% complete and fully operational.

The City of Rock Creek is currently undergoing an Insurance Services Office (ISO) review, a process that is expected to take approximately 3–4 months to complete. Once the review has been finalized and updated ratings are available, homeowners are encouraged to contact their insurance providers to determine whether they may qualify for any discounts or reductions in their homeowners insurance premiums as a result of the new Rock Creek Fire Substation and enhanced fire protection services.

This project stems from a decision made by the Rock Creek City Council in December 2023 to transition all fire protection services within the City to the Rush City Fire Department, rather than continuing to split services between Pine City and Rush City. Prior to the change, approximately 54% of the City was covered by Pine City and 46% by Rush City. The savings realized by transitioning from two separate fire protection contracts to one full-service contract allowed the City of Rock Creek to reinvest a portion of those funds back into the development of the new Fire Substation, further strengthening emergency response services for local residents.

In early spring of 2024, discussions began regarding the need for a new and more efficient Public Works facility. The previous building lacked adequate space to properly store and service equipment and did not include basic amenities such as a restroom or office space for Public Works employees. From March 2024 through February 2025, numerous Building Committee meetings were held to plan the new facility. Requests for contractor bids were officially published in March 2025.

Once the decision was made to move forward with bids for the new Public Works building, representatives from the City of Rock Creek and the Rush City Fire Department met on March 7, 2025 to discuss the feasibility of converting the former Public Works building into a Fire Substation to better serve Rock Creek residents.

Since that time, many collaborative meetings and planning efforts have taken place between City officials and the Rush City Fire Department. The City of Rock Creek is pleased to now host the first-ever Rush City Fire Department Substation, allowing firefighters to respond more quickly to emergencies within the community.

The partnership is especially meaningful as at least five volunteer firefighters with the Rush City Fire Department currently reside within the City of Rock Creek, helping strengthen local emergency response capabilities and community protection.

The City of Rock Creek would like to thank everyone involved in making this project possible and looks forward to the long-term public safety benefits the new substation will provide to residents.
